Rudhramadevi’s Oscar Entry caused a lot of buzz on social media

Rudhramadevi is a 2015 Indian Telugu-language 3D historical film based on the life of Rudrama Devi, one of the prominent rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty in the Deccan, and one of the few ruling queens in Indian history.  The film written and directed byGunasekhar features Anushka Shetty as Rudrama Devi,  alongside an ensemble cast of Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Krishnam Raju, Vikramjeet Virk, Prakash Raj, Nithya Menen, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa. The film is narrated by Chiranjeevi.  The film’s soundtrack and background score were composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

Rudhramadevi was released worldwide on 9 October 2015, with dubbed versions in Hindi and Malayalam languages. The Tamildubbed version  was released by Sri Thenandal Films on 16 October. Upon release, the film received positive reviews, with critics praising the direction, narrative style, background score, and Anushka’s performance. The film became the fifth highest opening day grossing Indian film of 2015.It grossed ₹32 crores worldwide in the opening weekend.

Gunasekhar is one very happy man right now. After his film received mixed results at the Box Office, he received an unexpected boost from the Film Federation of India. The committee has recommended Rudhramadevi for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.

An overjoyed Gunasekhar expressed his happiness and his gratitude for the Film Federation’s decision. This development has also caused a lot of buzz on social media, with people arguing for and against the decision.
